Rada seniorů České republiky ustanovena

Dvanáct seniorských organizací, resp. organizací kde většina členů jsou senioři, byly doposud sdruženy v Koordinačním výboru organizací důchodců (KVOD). Mezi největší organizace patří Asociace důchodců odborářů při ČMKOS, Svaz důchodců ČR, Český svaz bojovníků za svobodu a Svaz diabetiků ČR. Jen tyto organizace mají na 0,5 milionu evidovaných členů. Na své hodnotící konferenci dne 31. 5. 2005 se usnesly všechny organizace vytvořit vrcholný orgán seniorských organizací: a to Radu seniorů ČR. Vycházelo se zde ze zkušeností zemí EU a také z mezinárodní konference o radách seniorů, která se konala v září 2004 v Hradci Králové.
