Diseases of the oral mucosa

The majority of population comes during the live across problems associated with disabilities of the oral mucosa, resulting from its

permanent exposure to external factors related with food intake, breathing and speaking processes. Diseases of the oral cavity may

be one of the first signs of more serious systemic disease. Healthy oral cavity could also reduce the incidence of a number of pathological

conditions (cardiovascular disorders, respiratory infections, diabetes, etc.). Among the diseases affecting the oral mucosa may be

included: viral diseases of erosive character, diseases of ulcerative nature, diseases which belong to so-called white area syndrome and

pathological manifestations of systemic diseases on the mucous membrane (figure 1).
