The authors describe a case of a female patient suffering from the DRESS (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms) syndromewhich was associated with administration of allopurinol. In addition to skin lesions and typical hematological abnormalities, an acuterenal failure requiring hemodialysis was detected in the patient. Liver and pancreatic injury was also manifested. Cessation of allopurinoland comprehensive intensive treatment including local and systemic corticosteroids led to a regression of skin lesions, restoration of diuresis, and improvement of renal function. Functions of the other affected organs were restored, too.
